Northern Portugal is a culturally varied region.

The region has a number of manor houses and castles with coats of arms, alluding to a very intense medieval period. Regional gastronomy is renowned and varied, offering products such as light wines (vinho verde) and rich wines, and a variety of handicrafts that mix the brilliance of filigree with the color of local embroidery. The North of Portugal is also very rich in folklore and traditions that date back to antiquity.
